Calling a Time Out

If you’re a regular reader here, you know that I’ve been recovering from a broken right leg since the New Year. At first, it was a lot of sitting around and doing…well…nothing really.

Last week, I began physical therapy to work on gradually increasing weight on my leg. Hopefully I’ll be walking by Easter. Don’t you just love that symmetry? God sure has a glorious sense of timing.

This month is going to be a busy one. Therapy three times a week, my Dad’s 90th birthday, and a lovely visit with my daughter. I was late on God’s call to lean into the quiet of the past two months, but I’m not going to miss this one. It’s time to take a break from blogging, and concentrate on healing and my family.

Thank you so much for your prayers, your thoughts and all the wonderfully supportive comments you’ve made in the last two months. I hope I have learned from your wisdom, and I know your prayers will carry me to the happy day I walk with two feet.

I’ll be praying for all of you. May God bless your Lenten Season, and bring you triumphantly into the joy of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

See you back here April 6th. It’s a date!

  1. Good for you Ceil! I will be praying for you as you strengthen, lean into a deeper quiet with God and enjoy time with your family. What a gift! May the rest of this Lenten season bring you to the cross in a deeper and more familiar way. Blessings to you for the next few weeks. See you after Easter! Blessings!

  2. Ceil, as I just met you over at Deb Wolf’s blog, I was unaware of all you have been going through. I will definitely be adding you to my prayer list, new friend, and hope that your healing is restorative and permanent.

  3. Enjoy your family. We too plan a family celebration. Our daughter, Janet, her husband Richard, their son Russ and his wife, Jen and their son, Camden are coming out March 14. Janet and Richard from Nashville, Russ Jen and Camden from Boston .
The 15th we will celebrating my husband, Jim’s ninety first birthday and Camden’s first birthday…so looking forward to it. Hope all goes well with your healing!

Best wishes to your dad on his 90th Birthday.

Don’t forget to visit all your readers from time to time even though you’re not Blogiing yourself. I’ll make sure you have something to smile about on my posts.

God bless you and your family. Happy Easter to you and yours.

  8. I will miss you, Ceil, but your priorities are in the right order. May you experience the love and power of God in a new way during this season. Much love to you!

  9. Dear Ceil, you always write with insight and wisdom. This word and choice are no different. Although our circumstances are not the same, I truly understand where you’re at right now and how life itself causes us to pull back from one thing in order to prioritise another.
May this be a season where you can happily let go of the good in order to embrace God’s best. And return revitalised, restored and refreshed in every area of your life. Blessings, love and prayers. Xox

  10. May you be blessed during your blogging break. I didn’t know about your broken leg, having just met you recently on-line. May the Lord pour out his healing power. Sounds like a good time for a break what with physical therapy and your dad’s birthday!

  11. Happy March Ceil, I’m glad that you will be taking time to let your body rest and heal. I claimed for my surgery this verse and will claim it for you-
“For I will restore your health and heal your wounds, says the Lord.” Jer.30:17

I totally understand your need to take a break, but please know you will be missed and I look forward to the time when you are back and able to walk perfectly. Be gentle with yourself. I know I’m ready to be back to my normal routine-recovery can take awhile though.
    Hugs, Blessings and Prayers.

  13. Deepest prayers for a continued healing, Ceil. And may God bless you as you take this time to rest and recover. Enjoy the blessings of family. Remember the faithfulness of Jesus. And always know that we, your blog friends, will eagerly await your return.

    It’s a date – I’ll be here.

    GOD BLESS!

  14. Good for you, although I will miss you! I pray for you during your therapy (if you lived a little closer, I’d have set you in the PT clinic where I work :) Best wished for your continued healing and God bless you! Looking forward to seeing you after Easter!

  15. Ceil: Sometime we have to ‘unplug’ and regroup for our own well-being. Get the rest you need and do what you have to do to get badk to walking by Easter. I did therapy last year. A lady at church who is a nurse suggested I take a pain pill before I left home. Maybe your doctor has already told you to do this. Enjoy your Dad’s birthday and make the most of the visit with your sister. Our son is moving back to Indiana right before Easter, I’m unsure of our plans for that weekend. I felt as if that is how this would all pan out for him and for us.

  16. Ceil, I hope you have a great break and praying your PT goes well. Be a good patient now and do your exercises. 😉 Have a great Easter. Hoping the warm weather is greeting you by the time you return to blogging and the snow is behind you, friend.

  17. Ceil, I hope you have been resting, relaxing and doing what the PT people have been calling for. Mostly I pray that you have been blessed by this time with God and with family during this most holy season. Be well, friend. Miss your encouraging words.

  18. Hello Ceila, I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how you are doing. Then you visited my blog! I hope you are healing well and am sending you my best wishes for a wonderful, blessed Easter. x

  19. Good Evening Ceil! Happy Easter-Resurrection Day to you also! It’s good to hear from you….I have been a little MIA myself these last weeks. I too, have a lot going on. I’m happy you have been on the mend…..such a long winter to be laid up. Prayers for Healing and strength to those bones~~~that leg will mend better than expected~~~decreeing this In Jesus name…..we are HEALED! Blessings….and keep me in yours prayers for my health too…..so appreciate it.

  20. Ceil, thanks for commenting on my blog about Sr. Mary Vandergeest. She really is a woman who can accomplish great things! I didn’t take the photo at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In fact, I didn’t get to go this year–which was a disappointment but, I think, a wise decision. I’m trying to learn to say “No” to some things! I had meetings every weekend in March except the Saturday of the parade so I talked myself into staying at home that Saturday! A hard decision because I love going to Wilmington where I grew up and where I taught for 20 years! Many blessings!

    • Hi Sr.! Your decision to say ‘no’, even to something you would have liked, is the basis of a great blog post, don’t you? I know I struggle with holding myself to limits. It’s so hard! I applaud your decision to take the better road.

It’s always a pleasure to see you my friend!
      Ceil
