One day while in a store I bumped into one of my music professors and we were talking about how people learn. How the learning process isn’t always a straight line. In fact, normally, it is not. Some people learn a skill much slower than others. So how do you learn the skills you need without discouragement? It’s like chopping a tree. One swing at a time. It doesn’t matter if it is with a big axe or a little one, you still have to keep swinging and keep hitting it until you finally break through having learned what was needed to make it fall over. Your illustration above is much like that. Our plans are good but they often lead us in a straight line; whereas, God has better plans that often leave a sqiggly line with lots of detours.
