Hot Lava

My kids used to play ‘hot lava’ in the family room. The lava was the carpet, so you had to avoid stepping on the floor.

They’d put cushions down, and climb all over the furniture. This image made me smile just remembering those days. I think they would have jumped at the chance to do it in a furniture store, don’t you?

I am out of town, celebrating the Baptism of Elizabeth Ann. I’ll see you back here on Wednesday. Let’s make a date to meet then, ok?

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Dear Ceil
Oh, when we as kids played something similar, we climbed the walls of the passage with the one foot plastered on the one wall and the others one on the other wall. It was just great fun! My aunt never complained about the little feet signatures on the walls.

  2. It is an honored tradition, isn’t it? Our daughters played hot lava and now our grands do – along with “crocodiles in the water”. What a fun and simple way to use their imaginations! I hope Elizabeth Ann’s baptism was a joyous occasion and will be a wonderful memory to cherish, Ceil.

  3. Not sure how I missed out on that particular game! Sounds hilarious. I may have to try it now, even if I am a grandma! Enjoy your time with your precious new granddaughter. What a joyous occasion! May God bless you time together with much laughter, hugs, kisses and sweet baby breath!

  4. I think my sons did the same thing! They also had this *rule* – when one of them wanted something from the kitchen, the person who got up first had to get it. Those boys would starve, I think, before they gave in. And, I can’t tell you how many times I heard, “Hey Mom, since you’re up, could you get…you know the rule.”

    Boys.

Can’t wait to hear all about the baptism.

    GOD BLESS, Ceil.

  5. Have a safe trip, Ceil. Enjoy this beautiful celebration and dedication to Christ. Love the memories. When we all were kids and my aunt used to sit for all the nieces and nephews (11 of us just 5-6 years apart) she used to make us sit in chairs a few feet apart as a time out…when she turned her back all 11 of us used to scramble around as if the floor was made of lava and switch chairs before she could see us. I’m surprised she ever allowed us back, but something tells me she was having more fun than we were! God rest her soul, we all miss her so much!
